The New Prairie Boys Cross Country team made their second consecutive visit to the Semi State looking to improve upon 2017’s 9th place. Ranked 9th of 20 teams earning their trip to the New Prairie Semi State, New Prairie was able to carve out a 9th place team finish on Saturday, ending their excellent season. Missing the cutoff of 6th place to earn a trip to state, the NP Boys gave tremendous effort racing amidst a chaotic and packed field of 180 excellent racers from our 1/4th of the state. New Prairie was led by Jacob Corbett’s 17th place finish in 16:37. Jacob was able to nab the 8th place individual spot and earn an individual trip to the IHSAA State Championships next week in Terre Haute. His brother, Brandon, was in 18th place at the 2 mile point, but his risky and hard fought early position led to fading back to 43rd by the finish. Tim O’Laughlin finished 46th, Jarrod Michael 53rd, Quinn Beall 98th, Tom Wykoff 114th, and Josh Baltes 124th. The New Prairie Boys finished their season with 138 wins and 40 losses = 78% winning percentage.
