The New Prairie High School Girls’ Varsity Golf team continues to improve on the links. Today, the Lady Cougars hosted South Bend Riley and John Glenn High Schools on their home course Legacy Hills in LaPorte. Winning over New Prairie was John Glenn High School shooting a wonderful score of 186. They were led by match medalist Megan Kobelt with a 41. The Lady Cougars shot a solid 228 recording their best 9 hole score to date.
That 228 was enough to beat other NIC foe South Bend Riley who posted a 9 hole score of 268. Low score for Riley was Alayna Beaveheap with a 50. This makes the Cougars 2-6 in NIC play this season.
Once again the young Lady Cougars were led by super Sophomore Jordan Winters who posted a 47. Jordan carded one eagle and one birdie in route to that score. Next in scoring was Sophomore Zoie Martinez who shot a season low score of 51. Rounding out the scoring were Freshmen Cyd Palmer with a season low 64 and Liv Trojanowski with a season low 66. The team was playing without Junior Captain Beth Armstrong who will return to action Wed.
Coach Bruce Watson was again pleased with the composure and confidence that his ladies exhibited during the competition. He said “Golf is a game you play against yourself and the course. Our young team is taking command over their competitive instincts and using that to improve their game. It is very satisfying watching them mature as golfers and young ladies. They are simply excellent representative of New Prairie High School and the greater New Prairie community.”
The team entertains the Knox High School Girls’ Golf team on Wed. at Legacy Hills.
