In a very close game against the LaPorte Slicers New Prairie Cougars came up a little short. In the first inning Karissa Gilpin put the ball in play with a single but was left stranded as the Slicers were able to get the third out and hold New Prairie scoreless. In the bottom of the 1st Gilpin had two strike outs while and Shelby Linn put the ball in play with a single. In an attempt to steal second, she was thrown out by catcher Allison Pavlick with an assist by short stop Alyssa Forys to end the inning. The second inning was a pitcher’s duel with no runs scored. The top of the 3rd Maddie McSurley slapped a base hit single and scored when Lauren Wilcoxson drove a double to left center field. Cougars held the lead and were able to add a run in the fifth inning when with Aylssa Forys slapped a hit up the middle. After some good base running and good coaching decisions she able to score on a wild pitch pushing the lead to 2- 0. The Slicers were able to tie the game up in the bottom of the 5th.The Slicers took the lead on a stolen base after a wild pitch. The Cougars started to build some momentum in the 7th inning, with two outs as Forys was walked and then Maddie McSurley was able to get an infield single. The Cougars had two runners on base, but the Slicers were able to get the third out to end the game.
