Playing in their first match of the season, the New Prairie Cougars Girls’ Varsity Golf team finished in 2nd place out of a five team field. Coach Bruce Watson, in his second year as the girls’ coach was pleased with the results. We have only had a few practices and this is the first match for our younger girls. It was a great learning experience for the team as we prepare to write the next chapter in the girls’ golf program. All players played consistent golf and were excellent representatives of their school and community. Junior Jordan Winters led the team with an excellent 74, followed closely by younger sister and Freshman Jaiden Winters with an 82. Zoie Martinez, junior carded an 86, while sophomore Cyd Palmer carded a 105 and Freshman Macaria Tierney finished with a 113. Playing in an exhibition match, Freshmen Paige Wilson shot a 114 and Ann Nelson a 115. The Cougars participate in the Penn Invitation tomorrow.
