The New Prairie Cougars Ladies’ Varsity Golf won a non-conference match to Knox 170-253. Coach Bruce Watson, ladies’ coach was elated with the 170 which is now the lowest 9 hole score in the 49 year history of ladies’ golf at New Prairie. Anytime you break a great record, you need to be proud of your accomplishment. Hard work does pay off. All players were excellent representatives of their school and community. Sophomore Jaiden Winters was medalist shooting a spectacular 2 under par 35 on a tough front nine par 37 at Legacy Hills. She was followed by Freshman Jenna Bauman 42, Senior Jordan Winter 44, Freshman Jayden Flagg 49, and Senior Zoie Martinez 53. Playing JV were Freshman Bella Beall 55, Sophomore Macaria Tierney 56, Freshman Hannah Kole 57, Freshman Maddie Gilpin 58, Sophomore Ann Nelson 66.
The win moves New Prairie to a 10-5 overall record. After the match, the team celebrated Senior Evening recognizing both Jordan Winters and Zoie Martinez. Both these ladies have played on the team for four years, earning varsity letters each year. The Sophomores and Freshmen presented the two seniors with gifts. The Cougars travel to Michigan City Tuesday for another non-conference match.
