Brandon and Jacob Corbett qualified for the Franklin Central Flashes Distance Showcase where some of the best distance runners from Indiana competed on Friday night. Competing in the first mile heat of the night, the boys faced wind gusts up to 19mph hour and 21 other boys for the chance to earn fast times. Jacob bravely led the entire race going into the final lap. He relinquished his lead with 200 meters to go but he successfully unleashed his kick on the final stretch. Jacob won his heat with a 1600 equivalent of 4:29.54! Jacob finished the night ranked 24th in the state in the 1600 this year! Brandon ran a tactically sound race and learned a great deal about what it takes to compete at the next level. Both boys faced gas shortages and bus failures enroute to the miracle mile but did not falter in their preparation or execution!

The next morning, the Cougars finished 3rd at the Wheeler Bearcat Invitational today, only 24 points behind the 1st place team, Wheeler.
