MCHS welcomed the Cougars on Monday, January 11, 2021 as both teams celebrated their seniors, Kylie Harrison (MCHS) and Molly Lenig (NPHS). Harrison and Lenig began competing together for Platinum Gymnastics as young girls. NPHS and MCHS coaches only saw it fit to recognize their Seniors to celebrate their journey together in the sport.
The Cougars finished close with a final team score of 81.05 as the Wolves claimed a win with 83.65. Freshman Anna Jasnieski showed a presence by placing first on vault (8.1 tie), bars (7.5), beam (8.0), and all around with a score of 31.2. Jasnieski placed third on floor (7.6). Senior Molly Lenig shined on the floor with a score of 7.65 putting her on the podium in second place. Lenig placed fifth on bars (4.9), beam (5.6 tied), and all around (25.85). Freshman Silvia Small shared the fifth place finish on beam with Lenig. Small competed on bars for the first time this season at MCHS. Freshman Ava Surratt competed in three events while still recovering from an injury, showing her dedication to her team. NPHS coaches commented that with every meet all gymnasts are making improvements and scores are improving.
