Boys Varsity Cross Country · Boys Varsity Cross Country finishes 4th place at IHSAA B/G Cross Country Sectional

  Place Points
New Prairie High School 4th 85

The New Prairie Boys Cross Country Team faced off in traditionally one of the most challenging IHSAA Sectionals in Indiana. Facing much larger schools as Valparaiso, Chesterton, Portage, and LaPorte as well as the rest of the field of 13 teams, New Prairie looked to continue a successful season and advance to the IHSAA Regionals. New Prairie placed 4th to earn the right to advance. The top 5 teams were very closely matched as perennial champ Valpo scored 62 points, Chesterton 72, Portage 84, NP 85, and LaPorte 92. This was the closest range in my 11 years of coaching as these 5 teams filled the finish spots from #1 thru #30. On a saturated course with mud and deep standing water and an unseasonably warm and muggy day, Jacob Corbett continued his front pack racing to finish 4th, Tim O’Laughlin stayed consistent finishing 12th, Jarrod Michael 19th and Brandon Corbett 20th to earn All Sectional status. Quinn Beall finished the scoring at 30th place, Tom Wykoff close behind in 34th, and Josh Baltes at 43rd. Times were not particularly meaningful in these conditions as each man raced for a coveted position. The NPCC Boys team looks to finish among the top 5 at the IHSAA Regionals next week at New Prairie HS for a trip to the New Prairie Semi State.
