NPCC ladies wrapped up a solid season at the NP Regional

By Mark McBride | Oct 27, 2025 5:16 AM

The NPCC ladies wrapped up a solid season at the NP Regional today, one step away from State, with incredible improvements. The Lady Cougars finished in 18th place (improved from last year’s 21st place finish). 2 of the 3 postseason returners from last year beat their previous performances, 4 of the 7 runners today ran lifetime PRs on our tough home course, and one ran a season best today. Janice Felker led the team with a 58th place finish in a very strong field in a time of 20:25, followed by Mikaela Wilson who also broke the 21 minute barrier in a time of 20:50 for 77th place. Both Felker and Wilson earned lifetime PRs along with Elise Zelasko, who PRed by 23 seconds at 21:36, and Raegan Bicker, PRing by 32 seconds to break the 22 minute barrier in 21:56. Natalie Klemczak earned a season best performance in 21:40, and Jill Firanek beat her last year’s performance by 18 seconds in 21:51. Ava Schelstraete held on strong throughout the race after being sick this week and gained valuable experience racing in the huge field at Regionals. The Lady Cougars are looking forward to getting some rest and coming back next year with even more improvements and all varsity runners returning. We’ll be cheering for Braden Bachmann from the boys’ team who qualified for the State meet next week! Go Cougars!
