NPCC’s Lady Cougars raced to a strong 3rd place finish at the NP Sectional this morning, behind Penn and South Bend St. Joseph, and earned a spot at next week’s Regional! The girls showed great strength with awesome pack running and lots of improvements. Janice Felker and Mikaela Wilson earned top 20 finishes in 12th and 18th, respectively. Raegan Bicker earned an all-time PR, which is a difficult feat on our tough home course, and in relatively warm conditions. Janice Felker, Elise Zelasko, and Ava Schelstraete ran home course PRs. Natalie Klemczak ran a fantastic second half of the race, showing her strength coming back from a mid-race slump and scoring for the team as our fifth runner! Jill Firanek and Janice Felker (2 out of the 3 varsity tournament returners from last year) showcased their improvement by beating their last year performances, even with the temperature being 20 degrees warmer, and less ideal, than last year’s excellent conditions. The girls finished with a strong pack with less than 2 minutes between the first and last racer. NPCC will be racing at home again next week at the NP Regional, one step away from the State Finals!
