NPCC Ladies finished 4th at the NIC Championships

The NPCC Ladies finished 4th at the NIC Championships, just 2 points behind South Bend Adams. It was a really close race, with NP getting all of the scoring 5 in before Adams’s 4th finisher, but their front runner was far enough ahead to pull their score down. In a relatively small race like this, there just aren’t enough other runners to add places between the teams. The girls are going to make another crack at it in two weeks at the NP Sectional on our home course. The scoring 5 included Janice Felker, Mikaela Wilson, Jill Firanek, Natalie Klemczak, and Elise Zelasko. Raegan Bicker and Ella Sanford rounded out the varsity race today, and Raegan earned a lifetime PR, even after falling twice in the race! The middle pack of 4 all finished within 23 seconds of each other, and pulled each other through the race. Janice and Mikaela also earned All-Conference honors with their 10th and 19th place finishes, respectively, and Janice earned a lifetime PR with that finish! Natalie also ran a season best time! In the JV race, the ladies earned a 2nd place finish, led by frontrunner Ava Schelstraete finishing in 10th place! About a minute behind Ava was Madelyn Lower in 15th and Cora Buss in 16th. Callie Miller and Megan Lanchsweerdt finished their senior seasons strong in their last races at Ox Bow. Cora Buss, Chloe Woodrick, Olivia Hardy, and Maci Allen earned lifetime PRs! Kinsley Aurenz, Madison Mitchell, and Sophia Hackett pushed through the heat with solid performances amid some nagging aches and pains. Overall, the Lady Cougars finished the regular season strong with many of the girls improving their performances from last year, even with significantly worse weather this year, showing how strong they are and how much they truly have improved. We’re looking forward to the post-season starting in 2 weeks, and can’t wait to see how the ladies do at Sectionals on our home course (and hopefully some cooler weather)! Go Cougars!
