New Prairie edged out by Triton 3-2 The Cougars battled hard Tuesday night but came up just short in a tight 2-3 loss to Triton. At #1 Singles, Graydon Long delivered an instant classic. In one of the most thrilling matches of the season, Long fought through tiebreaks and momentum swings to earn a gritty 7-6(4), 1-6, 7-6(3) victory over Blayze Hensley. At #2 Singles, Braden Bachmann showed toughness in a three-set marathon but ultimately fell 2-6, 7-5, 2-6. #3 Singles saw Vincent Milner battle but come up short 3-6, 2-6 against Levi McFarland. In doubles play, the Cougars picked up one of the night’s most exciting wins at #2 Doubles, where Jon Woodham and Connor Tidwell bounced back after dropping the first set to dominate the next two, earning a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 comeback victory over Max Johnson and Clayton Andrews. At #1 Doubles, Dylan and Austin Bishop fought hard but were defeated 1-6, 3-6 by Triton’s Brayden Nifong and Max Ritchison. On the JV side, all players saw action. Singles wins came from Joey Smith and Miles Fraser, while the doubles teams of Kaleb Meadows / Ethan Odle and Mason Greenwood / Riley Wilczynski also earned victories. The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow at home against South Bend Riley, with first serve set for 4:00 PM.
