The New Prairie boys cross country team competed at the Cougar Kickoff last night, putting together a strong team performance against a competitive field. Leading the way for the Cougars was junior Lukas Hannewyk, who delivered a strong performance to finish 19th overall in 19:05.89. Hannewyk stayed competitive throughout the race and led a group of New Prairie runners who continued to battle through the field. New Prairie's next four scorers continued to put together a solid team performance. Ricky Corbett finished 28th in 19:25.75, followed by Mitchell Walls in 41st at 20:02.21. Owen Otwinowski ran 20:27.34 to finish 57th, while Sullivan Young rounded out the Cougars' scoring five in 63rd place at 20:41.33. The Cougars also received solid efforts from their remaining runners. Ryese Lake finished 69th in 20:50.23, while Chase Vann crossed in 95th at 21:24.56. Jackson Firanek finished 109th in 21:55.93. The Cougars will be back in action on September 19th at the New Prairie Invitational!
