The New Prairie boys cross country team competed in the Harrison Invitational today in West Lafayette, putting together a strong team performance against a highly competitive field. Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Braden Bachmann, who delivered another outstanding performance to capture 2nd place individually. Bachmann ran 15:55.08, finishing just five seconds behind race winner Chase Norris of Bloomington South. Braden once again established himself among the top runners in the field, battling with the lead pack throughout the race and posting his fastest time of the season. He is now 10th on the all-time list for New Prairie athletes at away courses! New Prairie's next four scorers continued to put together a strong team performance. Ayden Carpenter finished 42nd in 17:41.04, followed by Aidan Jaronik in 61st at 18:00.20. Evan Thibodeau ran 18:06.99 to finish 68th. Evan finished over a minute and thirty four seconds faster than his time last year! Isaac True rounded out the Cougars' scoring five in 90th place at 18:49.90. The Cougars also received solid efforts from their remaining varsity runners. Chase Shelton finished 93rd in 18:54.99. Chase had a breakout race and broke 19 minutes for the first time in his career. Lukas Hannewyk crossed in 100th at 19:03.07. Sullivan Young finished in 20:23.06, followed by Owen Otwinowski at 21:01.20 and Jackson Firanek at 21:36.09. New Prairie also had several runners compete in the JV race. Mitchell Walls led the Cougars with a 19:53.32, followed by Ricky Corbett at 20:04.91 and Ryese Lake at 20:29.48. Ricky ran a very aggressive race and chopped over a minute from his time last week! Chase Vann ran 21:05.95, while James Willis finished in 21:34.64 and Kyler Severance crossed in 22:36.05. The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday September 8th for the Cougar Kickoff at NPHS.
