NPCC boys secure 2nd place at the Prairie Heights Invitational! Bachmann captures individual title in dominating fashion!

The New Prairie boys cross country team competed in the Prairie Heights Invitational this morning, battling to a 2nd-place team finish with 58 points. FW Bishop Dwenger won the team championship with 34 points, followed by New Prairie (58), West Noble (91), Westview (118), and Central Noble (141). Leading the way for the Cougars was senior Braden Bachmann, who delivered another outstanding performance to capture the individual championship. Bachmann ran 16:17.39 to win the race by more than 44 seconds over Bishop Dwenger's Parker Miller. Braden established himself by the first mile and continued to pull away throughout the race, earning his second individual victory of the season. New Prairie's next four scorers continued to put together a strong team performance. Ayden Carpenter finished 7th in 17:29.51, followed by Aidan Jaronik in 13th at 18:04.51 and Evan Thibodeau in 14th at 18:06.16. Isaac True rounded out the Cougars' scoring five, finishing 23rd in 18:41.66. The five scorers combined for a team average of 17:43, helping New Prairie secure its runner-up finish. The Cougars also received solid efforts from their remaining runners. Sullivan Young finished 28th in 18:57.19, while Chase Shelton was 29th in 19:07.25. Owen Otwinowski followed in 38th at 19:49.40, with Mitchell Walls close behind in 39th at 19:55.63. Chase Vann finished 40th in 19:57.23, followed by Jackson Firanek in 49th at 20:30.11 and Ryese Lake in 55th at 20:44.74. Ricky Corbett crossed in 21:07.00, James Willis in 21:30.18, and Kyler Severance rounded out the team in 21:55.45. The Cougars will be back in action next week at the Harrison Invitational in Lafayette on September 5th.
