Addi Luther collected three hits in three at bats, as New Prairie Varsity Cougars defeated Marquette Catholic Varsity Blazers 17-4 on Thursday. Luther hit a home run to center field in the third inning, doubled in the first inning, and singled in the fifth inning. New Prairie Varsity Cougars got on the board in the top of the first inning after Luther doubled to left field, and Lauren Flagg grounded out, each scoring one run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring eight runs on four hits to take the lead, 10-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Flagg that drove in two.Three more New Prairie Varsity Cougars runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 13-3. Alyson Beltran singled, scoring one run, and Luther homered to center field, scoring two runs. Abbie Humes earned the win for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking one. New Prairie Varsity Cougars will travel to Portage for their next game on Friday.
