New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars won big over SB Washington 12-1 on Thursday at Washington High School. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kherington Durk walked, Ava Myers was struck by a pitch, Brooklynn Gomez walked, and Taylor Kopczinski walked, each scoring one run. New Prairie added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Avery Sammetinger was struck by a pitch, Gomez singled to the left side of the infield, and Kopczinski walked, each scoring one run. Sammetinger started in the circle for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Durk appeared in relief for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. Val Markiewicz and Durk each collected two hits for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. Caitlynn Rastetter, Gomez, and Durk each drove in two runs for New Prairie. The Cougars had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating 17 walks for the game. Hailey Albertson and Ava Simpkins led the team with three free passes each. Albertson, Gomez, and Durk each stole multiple bases for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars. New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars stole nine bases in the game & turned one double play. New Prairie Cougars were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. New Prairie JV Cougars welcome Portage JV on Friday for their final game of the season.
