NP Boys Track Competes in NIC Championships!

New Prairie competed against one of the deepest fields in northern Indiana Tuesday night at the 2026 NIC Championships, with the Cougar boys turning in several strong performances against elite conference competition. New Prairie was led by standout distance efforts, solid hurdle performances, and scoring finishes in the relays and throws. The distance group once again provided the backbone for the Cougars. Braden Bachmann delivered one of the top performances of the night for New Prairie, placing third in the 1600m with a time of 4:29.36 to earn six team points. Bachmann also added a seventh-place finish in the 800m, running 2:05.01 against a loaded field. In the 3200m, New Prairie scored twice as Lukas Hannewyk earned sixth place in 10:54.83, while Aidan Jaronik followed in eighth at 11:10.13. Isaac True narrowly missed the scoring positions in the 1600m, finishing ninth in 4:59.68. The hurdle crew added more points for the Cougars. Freshman Graham Wiard advanced through prelims and scored in the finals of the 110 hurdles, placing eighth overall in 17.80. In the 300 hurdles, senior Noah Oberle turned in a strong fifth-place finish with a time of 43.04. New Prairie also battled well in the relay events. The Cougar 4x100 relay team placed seventh in 46.49, while the 4x400 relay squad finished sixth in 3:45.47. The 4x800 relay also placed seventh with a time of 9:42.13 against a highly competitive distance field. In the field events, Landon Halderman earned a sixth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 124'0", giving New Prairie another key scoring performance. Grayson Goodman narrowly missed the scoring positions in the long jump, finishing ninth overall at 18'11".
