Lady Cougars Defeat Mishawaka Marian 14-4

New Prairie Varsity Cougars won big over Mishawaka Marian 14-4 on Tuesday. In the bottom of the first inning, New Prairie Varsity Cougars went back into the lead after Flagg walked, and Klingberg was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars extended their early lead with three runs in the bottom of the second thanks to RBI walks by Flagg, Beltran, and Strakowski. New Prairie Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Flagg singled to center field, and Beltran doubled to center field, each scoring two runs. New Prairie Varsity Cougars added five more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on two hits. Harris singled, scoring one run, Colanese hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Luther homered to right field, scoring three runs. Humes earned the win for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The starter surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out three and walking none. Miles pitched three innings in relief for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The reliever surrendered five hits and three runs while, striking out three and walking three. New Prairie Varsity Cougars's Harris, the number seven hitter, led New Prairie Varsity Cougars with two hits in four at bats. Luther, Beltran, and Flagg each drove in three runs for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. Colanese led New Prairie Varsity Cougars with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Next up for New Prairie Varsity Cougars is a game at Mishawaka Marian on Thursday.
