Lady Cougars Defeat South Bend Riley 8-7

New Prairie Varsity Cougars built a 5-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off South Bend Riley's charge for an 8-7 victory on Tuesday. New Prairie Varsity Cougars got on the board in the first inning after Klingberg was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on two hits to take the lead, 8-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Flagg that drove in two. Humes earned the win for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher gave up 11 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Luther and Humes each collected two hits for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. Klingberg, Strakowski, and Humes each drove in one run for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. New Prairie Varsity Cougars worked the count all day, piling up five walks. Next up for New Prairie Varsity Cougars is a game against South Bend Riley on Thursday.
