New Prairie JV Softball Splits Doubleheader with Elkhart Lady Lions Tough 12-6 loss to the Elkhart Lady Lions in the first game of the doubleheader. Hailey Albertson singled to center field. Analyn Keck pitched three and one-third innings in relief for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars, striking out three and walking none. Grace Countryman led things off in the circle for New Prairie. Ava Myers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Myers and Albertson each collected two hits for New Prairie. Your JV Cougars slid by the Elkhart JV Lions 13-12 in the second game of the doubleheader. Bats blistered as New Prairie JV collected 16 hits. The Cougars jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Avery Sammetinger doubled, scoring one run, and Ava Myers singled, scoring two runs. New Prairie Cougars flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take the lead, 10-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Payten Pozywala that drove in two. NP added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Hailey Albertson tripled to center field, Albertson scored after tagging up, and Sammetinger singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Sammetinger stepped in the circle first striking two. The Lady Cougars amassed 16 hits in the game. Sammetinger led New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars with three hits in three at bats. Pozywala, Myers, Analyn Keck, Brooklynn Gomez, and Sammetinger each drove in two runs. Amelia Johnson and Albertson each collected multiple hits for New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars.
