Lady Cougars Fall to St Joe 11-15

New Prairie Varsity Cougars's bats were strong against South Bend Saint Joseph on Monday, but it wasn't enough as New Prairie Varsity Cougars fell 15-11. South Bend Saint Joseph collected 16 hits, while New Prairie Varsity Cougars had 16. New Prairie Varsity Cougars got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Harris doubled, scoring two runs, and Strakowski grounded out, scoring one run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after South Bend Saint Joseph committed an error, and Humes hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. New Prairie Varsity Cougars flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 10-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Luther that drove in one. Strakowski took the loss for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking five. Humes led things off in the circle for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. New Prairie Varsity Cougars collected 16 hits in the game. Harris and Humes were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. Beltran went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead New Prairie Varsity Cougars in hits. Luther, Klingberg, and Strakowski each collected multiple hits for New Prairie Varsity Cougars. New Prairie Varsity Cougars turned two double plays in the game. New Prairie Varsity Cougars welcome Elkhart on Tuesday for their next game.
