New Prairie delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Tuesday night, using overwhelming distance strength, dominant relays, and a powerful showing in the throws to take control of a triangular meet against South Bend Washington and South Bend Career Academy. From the outset, the Cougars’ distance squads dictated the pace. Boys Results: On the boys' side, New Prairie swept the top four places in the 800 meters, led by Chase Shelton, who won in 2:18.96. He was followed by Lukas Hannewyk (2:22.40), Ayden Carpenter (2:25.67), and Ryese Lake (2:27.30) in a decisive team statement. That control intensified in the 1600 meters. Hannewyk returned to claim the win in 5:01.61, holding off Carpenter (5:12.61) and Aidan Jaronik (5:12.76), while New Prairie runners claimed nine of the top ten spots. The 3200 meters saw Hannewyk double back for another win (11:23.64), narrowly edging out Career Academy’s Artez Howard in a tight finish, with Jaronik and Isaac True rounding out the top four. The distance dominance carried over into the relays, where New Prairie captured the 4x800 meter relay in 9:11.07 behind the quartet of Braden Bachmann, Evan Wiesemann, Aidan Jaronik, and Isaac True. In the 4x400 relay, Bachmann, Wiesemann, Maddox Waltz, and Jaronik combined for a 3:52.14 runner-up finish. In the hurdles, Noah Oberle delivered a standout performance, winning the 300-meter hurdles in 43.50. Freshman Graham Wiard added a second-place finish in the 110 hurdles (18.41) and later placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17-5. The Cougars were especially dominant in the throws. Landon Halderman led a remarkable showing in the discus, winning with a throw of 133-0, while New Prairie athletes took five of the top five places (and six of the top seven). In the shot put, Elijah Schuck narrowly missed a win, placing second at 40-3—just one inch behind Washington’s Bryce Verse—with Halderman, Dorian Kieszkowski, Oscar Barrett, and Robert Putz all adding key points. On the track, the sprint group continued to build depth. Maddox Waltz led New Prairie in the 100 meters (12.10) and added a third-place finish in the 200 (25.02), while Leone Gennari, Sullivan Young, and Lucas Halderman packed the results with tightly grouped times. https://in.milesplit.com/meets/744097-sbcasbw-new-prairie-2026/results
