New Prairie delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Tuesday night, using overwhelming distance strength, dominant relays, and a powerful showing in the throws to take control of a triangular meet against South Bend Washington and South Bend Career Academy. From the outset, the Cougars’ distance squads dictated the pace. Girls Results: The girls' team matched that dominance, particularly in the relays, where New Prairie swept all three events. The 4x100 relay team of Eliza Leslie, Isla Wood, Izabelle Young, and Bailey Futa opened with a win in 55.46. In the 4x400, Cynthia Medina, Megan Lanchsweerdt, Alexis Hyatte, and Izabelle Young powered to victory in 4:37.27. The night closed with the 4x800 relay, where Madelyn Lower, Janice Felker, Mikaela Wilson, and Ella Sanford ran 10:36.10 to complete the sweep. Distance events were again the backbone of the team’s success. Elise Zelasko was untouchable, sweeping the 800 (2:44.73), 1600 (6:08.25), and 3200 (13:24.28). She was backed by strong supporting packs, with Jillian Firanek and Raegan Bicker securing second and third-place finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 to complete the sweeps. The 400 meters was another highlight, as New Prairie claimed the top four spots. Cynthia Medina took the win in 1:12.32, followed closely by Izabelle Young (1:12.59) and Alexis Hyatte (1:13.97), with Megan Lanchsweerdt finishing fourth. In the hurdles, Bailey Futa continued her strong season, winning the 300 hurdles in 51.19 and placing second in the 100 hurdles (18.13). Aubrey Schelstraete added a runner-up finish in the 300 hurdles and also placed third in the long jump. Field events secured the team's victory. Eliza Leslie cleared 4-8 to win the high jump, while Chloe Deutscher swept the throws, winning the discus (79-4) and shot put (28-5.25).
