New Prairie JV Cougars Defeat NorthWood JV Amelia Johnson collected four hits in four at bats, as New Prairie Junior Varsity Cougars defeated NorthWood JV 13-0 on Tuesday at NorthWood High School. Johnson singled in the first, second, fourth & fifth innings. NP jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Alex Miles tripled in the gap scoring one run, Ava Simpkins grounded out, scoring one run, and Payten Pozywala doubled, scoring two runs. Cougars scored six runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Kennedy Sehi scored after tagging up, Simpkins singled, scoring one run, Kherington Durk doubled, scoring one run, Avery Sammetinger grounded out, scoring one run, and Taylor Kopczinski doubled, scoring two runs. Miles started on the bump. The starter surrendered only two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking none. Sammetinger threw two innings of zero-run ball in relief. Sammetinger surrendered one hit, striking out three and walking none. The Lady Cougars tallied 15 hits in the game. Pozywala, Kopczinski, and Anna Denaway each drove in two runs. Durk collected two hits in four at bats. Pozywala, Johnson, Sehi, Hailey Albertson, and Durk each stole multiple bases. There were 16 stolen bases in the game.
