Co-Ed Track Opens Season at Culver Academies

The New Prairie boys turned in several standout performances at the Culver Indoor Meet, earning podium finishes across multiple events. In the sprints, Grayson Goodman placed third in the 40-yard dash with a time of 5.17. Goodman also led the way in the field events, winning the long jump with a mark of 18-7.75, while teammate Connor Geisel finished third with a jump of 16-10.25. In the middle distances, Carter Brothers secured second place in the 440-yard dash (1:03.92) and freshman Lucas Otwinowski followed closely with a third-place finish (1:06.17). The distance squad had a strong showing as Ayden Carpenter captured the 880-yard run title in 2:28.21. In the mile, Braden Bachmann edged the field to win in 4:50.14 while teammate Lukas Hannewyk placed third in 5:21.36. In the field events, Nathan Crane shared first place in the high jump, clearing 5-0. The Cougars also picked up relay podium finishes with runner-up performances in both the 4x400 relay (3:49.35) and the 4x880 relay of Ayden Carpenter, Evan Thibodeau, Chase Shelton, and Ricky Corbett (10:19.33). Boys Culver Academies – 78 New Prairie – 32 Knox – 6 The New Prairie girls delivered a dominant performance at the Culver Indoor Meet, highlighted by several individual victories and two distance sweeps. In the 220-yard dash, freshman Isla Wood placed second in 30.55 while Tori Jurkowski followed in third with a time of 30.84. The Cougars took control of the 440-yard dash as Bailey Futa captured first place in 1:10.01 and Izabelle Young added a third-place finish in 1:15.08. New Prairie completely swept the 880-yard run, with Mikaela Wilson winning in 2:44.38, Ella Sanford finishing second in 2:52.97, and Madelyn Lower taking third in 2:58.79. The Cougars repeated that feat in the mile, where Janice Felker (6:00.26), Jillian Firanek (6:02.55), and Elise Zelasko (6:09.39) finished first through third. Futa also won the 45-meter hurdles in 6.38. In the field events, Eliza Leslie tied for second in the high jump after clearing 4-6, and Chloe Deutscher won the shot put with a throw of 28-11. The relay teams also performed well, with New Prairie winning the 4x200 relay (2:20.13) and the 4x880 relay of Ella Sanford, Mikaela Wilson, Madelyn Lower, and Raegan Bicker (11:25.63) while finishing second in the 4x400 relay (4:15.38).
