The Lady Cougars traveled to SB Riley for NIC action on Friday night. Sophomore Alex Ellett gave the team a hot start scoring 8 of her 14 points in the opening quarter. At the end of 1, the Cougars carried a small 14-13 lead over the Wildcats. The contest stayed close through the 2nd quarter, and in her varsity debut, sophomore Sami Pease scored 6 of her 11 points in the 2nd quarter. At the half the Lady Cougars trailed 26-28. The second half continued to be a back to back game. The 3rd quarter, senior Hannah Hawkins-Wiesner took her leadership and put it into action while scoring 8 of her 16 points in that quarter. Still trailing going into the 4th quarter, the no quit attitude gave the team a late game rally. Trailing 3 with a minute to go, crucial defensive players with several steals and big time baskets put the team on top 54-51. Hannah Hawkins-Wiesner led all scores with 16 points, Alex Ellett tallied 14 points, &. Sami Pease had 11 points. A strong defensive performance from Addi Luther paired with 4 points was also impactful in the win. Chloe Deutscher toss in 5 points, and Brooklynne Shepherd & Envy Hesch had 2 points each. The Cougars have a short break in game play until the start of the new year as they head to Plymouth for Holiday Tournament action on Jan. 2 & 3. Varsity vs SB Riley HS (54 - 51) Win
