On Saturday, New Prairie Dance Team headed to Lake Central High School for their last regular season invitational. It was also the last opportunity for Amellia Klute to qualify for Semi-State in her category. Klute has spent the season perfecting her craft, making changes, and challenging herself to present a stunning routine. Klute’s piece was choreographed by Shannon Williams and the pair worked tirelessly making changes to work towards the ultimate goal of advancing to Semi-State. Her piece “Ashes” is complete with a stunning costume, soul touching lyrics, and the emotion brought forth by Klute. Coaches Tara Dome, Lauren Olson, and Anna Piesyk are so proud of Amellia and cannot wait to see her shine next Saturday, as she competes to qualify for State.
In addition to Klute’s great performance, the high school team placed 3rd in Pom, 4th in Hip Hop, and 6th in Jazz. This comes after almost 2 weeks of the flu sweeping through the team, which cancelled competitions and practice. The high school team was also voted for the Sportmanship award for the 4th time, which has the coaching staff just in awe of how NPDT continues to share kindness and support to other teams.
The Middle School Dance Team competed against some tough competition and came out victorious in their category with a 1st place finish.
It’s now onward to Regionals and State for the teams!
